City life can tire you out. All the work and hectic whereabouts can bring you down. But all work and no play will make anyone a dull person. With destinations like Panshet, Mulshi, Lonavala, city dwellers pack your bags and head out for this weekend. With a maximum of a two-hour drive from Pune and a three and a half drive from Mumbai, it hardly qualifies as far. A gem in Mulshi, Monica’s Retreat is THE weekend getaway you were looking for.

This three bedroom farmhouse is perched on a hill with a vast 180-degree view of Mulshi. (Just thinking about the view wants to make you pack your bags right). Surrounded by the beautiful Sahyadris on one side, you can also catch a glimpse of the Mulshi Dam on the other. The house is coupled with a kept lawn, pond and gazebo for you to catch the gorgeous sunsets or just dance away the night. The house can comfortably accommodate 12 people, so perfect if you’ll are travelling in bulk.

Don’t worry there is plenty for you to do there. The recreation room is up for grabs, equipped with a pool and table tennis table as well as a carrom board too. The only damper is that one hour of pool time will cost you Rs 100. Sway on the old school wooden swings, a rarity these days and get transported into the world of books. Worried about the holiday weight, walk around their fruit garden which boasts of mangoes and chikoo trees. The mix of simplicity and luxury completely bowled us over!

The caretaker is super helpful, and prompt with whatever you need. The kitchen is fully stocked and contains everything you could possibly require. (They also have shot glasses) What we love is that you can get your lunch and dinner prepared from a set menu, but the food is downright delicious! What more can you want?
