JM Road is dotted with restaurants serving delicious Indian fare, but the street food game is strong too! It has not one, but two noteworthy khau gallis worth mentioning. The first one has to be JM Corner. Located just around the corner on JM Road, JM Corner is a one-stop solution for all your hunger needs. It has everything from JJ Garden Vada Pav to Pav Bhaji at Shree Gurudatt. You can also find chaat, sandwiches, juice, dosa and paratha vendors dishing up hot and delicious food *mouth watering*. The second khau galli is located just down the road, opposite JM Temple, Hindavi Swaraj was once upon a small cart selling piping hot sabudana wadas with a spicy green thecha and cooling cucumber curd on the side. Soon, a dhapate stall cropped up and then a Dakshin Davangiri dosa guy set up a stall, and now the whole road is bustling with hungry people trying to get their hands on food. If you happen to live near Yerwada, then head to the lane right out Creaticity Mall and devour plates of chaat, sandwiches and much more. Start your eating spree at Sudama Bhel, Pune’s favourite, serving a variety of chaat dishes. Ranging from the standard Pani Puri and Sev Puri to Cheese Bhel and Matki Bhel, everything here is absolutely tasty. The stuffing of potatoes, 3 different kinds of chutneys, pomegranate seeds, topped with sev will transport you straight to Kutch. And if you’re in the mood for winner, winner, chicken dinner, then the Tandoori Chicken marinated in masalas and cooked in the tandoor will make your mouth salivate. Unless the 50 different varieties of dosa at Shree Ganesh Dosawala gets your attention and appeases your appetite.

There is an unsaid saying when it comes to street food. Always go to the place, with the most crowd, there’s a reason for it. One of Pune’s oldest khau gallis was known for its Pav Bhajis, milkshakes, parathas and Chinese fare. When a big mall threatened its existence, it fought and now you can still visit it, under Nucleus Mall. The khau galli is dotted with shops selling shady Chinese noodles and rice with a side of Pav bhaji and spicy North Indian fare. Ravi Veg and Non-Veg, Uncle Kitchen, Sukh Sagar and Cane Yard Sugarcane Juice Bar (a place where you can get sugarcane juice all year-round) are your best bets.

A popular name serving chaat to the city since 1948, Kalpana Bhel has an outlet right in the heart of the Sarasbaug Chowpatty. To give a sweet ending to our food journey; we chose the Goodnight Mastani. Don’t be confused by its name! Goodnight Mastani is nothing but a mix-fruit Mastani drink. The samosa is everything you’d expect, but it is the chutney and sev that makes it super delicious! If you’re looking for a dose of kuch khatta and meetha then Radhika Bhel should be your next stop. If you’d love some pasta, burgers or pizza then Crazy Cheese will give you that and much more with oodles of cheese.
