Varasgaon Dam

If you want to get away from the concrete jungle and spend a day amidst nature and admiring it then this dam is perfect! Just a two-hour drive, this dam has become a picnic hotspot over the recent years. The dam is only 15 mins drive from Lavasa. The route is also picturesque especially during the monsoon season when you’re greeted with lush greenery and cascading waterfalls and great spots to trek up to as well. An interesting find has been that during the summer months when the water levels recede and the dam dries up, it unveils an old village with ancient treasures such as temples, Wadas, monuments and more belonging to Baji Pasalkar (Chhatrapati Shivaji’s first general). Hence, the dam's current name. The fun part is that with a little research you can actually discover these ancient relics during the summer months when the land is dry!
