Planning A Post Diwali Vacation? Pune Airport Will Most Likely Be Shut For 2 Weeks!

Pune International Airport may be out of bounds for travellers due to the ongoing re-carpeting work which was started last year. At present, no flights are flying out of Pune post 8 pm. More on this below!

For 14 days, most likely after Diwali, the runway at the Pune Airport will be closed off due to the ongoing re-carpeting work. The exact dates of the closure are not finalised and the civil authorities are waiting for clarity on the dates from the Indian Air Force since they manage the airport. 

Since last October, no flights have been flying from 8 pm to 8 am. Also, the airport was supposed to be shut from April 26 to May 9 but was cancelled to transport Coronavirus vaccines from the city which is still on. However, officials say that re-carpeting work is of utmost importance. 

The airport has seen a heavy stream of people going on vacations post the second wave and many have also planned vacations during the proposed closure period since it happens to be the time when schools have winter vacations planned as well. Many travel agencies and travellers are worried that this development will hamper travel plans since November is peak travel season. 

So if you are planning to go on a vacation, we suggest that you keep on following the developments on the closure and rethink your plans.
