Parvati Hill, Parvati Paytha, Pune

One of the most scenic and popular tourist destinations in Pune has to be Parvati Hill, and it’s easy to see why that is the case. Leading up the slope of the hill are 103 stone steps, intricately carved from a special black quarry stone that have proven to be as durable and weather-resistant as they are visually appealing. The reward you get for making the trek up to the top, 2100 feet above sea level is the Parvati Temple, which has been standing since 1749. The temple (one of several on the hill) attracts a steady stream of devotees, both locals and visitors, but even those who aren’t visiting for the temple are treated to stunning views of the lush greenery on the hill and the city in the distance, making the trip completely worthwhile.
