Even though the route is only 20 km long, the full train ride takes 2.5 hours. So while the train has retained its old-world charm, the modern update makes it much safer than before. Vista Dome (Pune-Mumbai)

This newest vista dome train plying from Pune to Mumbai has been going viral on the internet. This one-of-a-kind train lets you soak in the majestic views of the hills, ghats, tunnels and valley thanks to its glass roof and big glass windows that offer spectacular views of the emerald ghats and the rich flora and fauna too! The coach can accommodate around 40 travellers and guess what the seats can rotate 300 degrees. That'll make the ‘sight sightseeing’ experience even more fun. The train comes with 12 LCD television screens for entertainment, automatic sliding compartment doors, oven, mini-fridge, juicer grinder and toilets with ceramic tiles too. Talk about luxury. Deccan Odyssey (Mumbai-Mumbai)
Forget about the rugged train journey and enjoy a 5-star luxurious ride fit for a king/queen in Maharashtra's very own Deccan Odyssey. This train journey is nothing like you’ve experienced before. Travellers have access to the library, an Ayurvedic massage centre, steam rooms and even a gymnasium on board. It takes six different routes and all of the routes have seven nights, eight days journey package. You can opt between a Maharashtra Splendor that hits the key spots in the state like Ajanta-Ellora Caves, Kolhapur and Ratnagiri or embrace your wild side and check out places like Tadoba, Ramtek and Nashik. Mandovi / Konkan Kanya Express (Mumbai - Goa)
Named after the Mandovi river, this train operated between CSTM (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) and Madgaon Junction in Goa. It covers a staggering distance of 580 km within 12 hours. This 22-year-old train passes through key locations in Maharashtra like Ratnagiri, Chiplun, Sindhudurg and makes its way through the Konkan and Western Ghats. It also passes Karbude Tunnel which at 6.5 km is one of the longest tunnels in the state. You can see the Arabian Sea kissing the Maharashtra coastline at Sindhudurg, and see a carpet of green plantations in Chiplun allowing you to capture the best of Maharashtra’s countryside.
Goa Express (Pune-Goa)
If you have plans of travelling to the sunshine state for some beer, sand and beach then you need to hop onto Goa Express. This train has been operating since 1987 even before the evolution of the Konkan Railways, making this train ancient! Although this train doesn’t originate from Maharashtra, it passes through it. This superfast train passes Margao, Belgaum, Sangli, Satara, Pune, Daund and it is the only passenger train that passes through the famous Dudhsagar Falls daily. Also, witnessing this waterfall during the monsoons on the Braganza Ghat in its full glory should be your primary reason to take this train (Just kidding, not).
