Started back in 1941, Shri Krishna Bhuvan in Tulshibaug is run by the Joshi family and has been dishing out hot plates of tarri filled misals to Punekars for the past 79 years. As one of the oldest misal joints in the city, they have stayed true to their name and taste for all these years. Many would recall eating here after a day of shopping in Tulshibaug when the hunger pangs came calling.

The misal comes in three parts. You get the thin poha topped with sev farsan, potatoes and raw onions, the tarri or sample which is not too spicy to blow your socks off, but spicy enough to make you go back for more and white slice bread as opposed to the laadi pav you’ll find in other places. The menu is fairly simple, you have your misal, with a choice of additional sample, bread, sev and wash it all down with taak or dahi, if your mouth has been set on fire. The mark of a good sample is by the layer of oil you find on it. Did we mention that it’s super tasty and packed with flavour?

The misal pav here is slightly less spicy than what you might get elsewhere but is packed with flavour. It’s an authentic breakfast place that also serves up some other beloved Maharashtrian snacks, and Kanda Poha that are definitely worth trying, too! We recommend ending your meal on a sweet note with some Sheera. They do tend to run out of misal in the day depending on their demand, so we suggest you order it up, pronto!
