Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple

It is said that Dagdusheth Gadve was a sweet maker from Karnataka. He soon gained popularity in Pune because of his shop, Kaka Halwai (which is famous even today). But Gadve suffered a huge blow when he lost his son due to an epidemic that pushed his wife in depression. To ease that immense pain and to bring back happiness in their life, Shri Madhavnath Maharaj suggested they build an idol of Lord Ganesha and a temple too. Not only city dwellers but people from all over the country pay a visit to Dagdusheth when in Pune.

Vaishno Devi Temple

Infact, for all you Mata ke Bhakto, we have found a Vaishno Devi Temple for you right in the city. Yes, you read it right! Situated in Pimpri-Chinchwad, this Vaishno Devi Temple is a replica of the one in Jammu and attracts devotees from all around the city. Not only this, the temple also promises the same rocky structures and caves like the ones in Jammu. You enter the temple through a small tunnel with water flowing in your feet. The peace and quiet here is definitely a spiritual experience.

Omkareshwar Temple

Omkareshwar Temple in Shaniwar Peth is not only one of the most popular temples in the city but one of the oldest too. The temple was built by Shivaram Bhat, spiritual guru of Peshwas between 1740 to 1760. The temple proclaims the vigour and bravery of the Peshwas and also has the samadhi of Chimaji Appa. This Shiv temple has a gorgeous Nandi Mandap with an ancient idol of Nandi and a Shivling where devotees seek blessings of lord Shiva. During the freedom struggle, Lokmanya Tilak and Veer Savarkar used to use a nearby spot as a ‘Taalim’ and the revolutionaries along with their comrades used to light a bonfire of British goods. Iskcon Temple

The branches of this temple are spread across all major cities of the country and in Pune, they have a branch in Camp. Each year lakhs of devotees to pay their respects especially during the festivals. This beautiful Radha Krishan temple is as much of a treat to eyes as it is to the soul. The temple believes in systematically spreading spiritual information amongst masses.

Chatturshringi Temple

Built during the reign of Peshwas, Chatturshringi Temple is another major temple in the city which always has devotees flocking around. The temple is a shrine to Goddess Chatturshringi and is located on Senapati Bapat Road. One has to climb more than 170 steps to reach on the top. Other than the spiritual enlightenment, the devotees also get to get mesmerised by the panoramic view of the city from the top.

Tarkeshwar Temple

Located on  the hillocks of Yerawada, Tarkeshwar is a must visit for you irrespective of whether you are spiritually driven or not. Nested in the lap of nature, Tarkershwar is  an ancient Shiva Temple in Pune. Even though there are affirmative documents of the history of the temple, it is said that the ancient temple was built in the Pandava era. The temple was in ruins for the longest time until in 2016, it was renovated with an aim to make it as popular as Parvati Temple.

Parvati Temple

It is said that centuries ago Shrimant Nanasaheb got to know about the healing powers of this place and promised that if the temple cured his ailing mother, he would build a temple here. Call it a miracle, his mother recovered and not only did he built the Parvati Temple but also visited it on a regular basis.
