Under 400 Km: These Are The Road Trips Near Mumbai For Short & Safe Travels That You Can Take

Chalo ji long drive pe chale! Of course, with utmost safety and keeping all guidelines in mind! That rusty old long drive playlist should be dug out and be playing on your stereos in cars. As part of our series, we bring you distance-wise suggestions as to road trips near Mumbai.

We did a round up of road trips near Mumbai under 100 km which included Uttan, Durshet, Manori, Karjat, Vasai, Matheran and Kamshet. And also another one of road trips near Mumbai under 200km with places like Nashik, Panshet, Igatpuri, Bhandardara, Koroli Hills, Shrivardhan, Kashid and Alibaug. So we again thought 400 km isn’t that bad too. Haina? Hence, here we are with these places where you can take trips that are within 400 km from Mumbai. So, let’s get started!


1. Aurangabad

Historically rich, Aurangabad is known for Ajanta-Ellora Caves, Bibi Ka Maqbara, Aurangabad Caves, Daulatabad Fort, Sunheri Mahal and so much more. And did you know the famous Paithani Sarees are originally from here. There is simply so much to do and see here. And the ride up there is a scenic and gorgeous one too. 2. Rajmachi

The land of the fireflies! It is one of the rugged forts in the Sahyadris. The twin forts of Shriwardhan and Manaranjan stand tall and people come from far and wide to witness the fireflies here. During monsoon, the whole region is filled with fireflies and it is a sight to behold. That’s not all. Rajmachi is a fave among trekkers who come to scale these forts. And, if you have interest in mythology and are religious there’s an ancient temple called Godhaneshwar Temple in Rajmachi that has been around since the 8th Century. 3. Kolhapur

Not only the chappals, but the spices, and other Kolhapuri things and places of interest are famous not only in our state or country but even worldwide. It is also a great tourist spot and people drop by to explore. It also serves as a pit stop for those who have embarked on their Mumbai to Goa or Pune to Goa road trips. 4. Ganpatipule

It is a road trip paradise, with long winding roads, virgin landscapes, shimmering white sand beaches, turquoise sea, temples and much more. 5. Ganeshgule

Located in Ratnagiri district and 21 km away from Ratnagiri bus stand, Ganeshgule is the temple town whose history is fascinating. The quaint village is mostly a temple town that is known for its Ganesh Temple. The temple is said to date back to 400 years and is presumed to be built in the pre-Shivaji era. What’s more fascinating here is a 70 ft deep stairwell which is man-made. The steps are carved out of laterite stones. The temple area is flanked by lush greenery and the ambiance is very calming. People from all over come here to seek Lord Ganesha’s blessings. About 1.5 km away from the temple is the wondrous Ganeshgule beach. White sands, emerald sea and the whole 1.5 km stretch has mountains on both sides. The terrain is rocky. The beach is popular amongst locals but still secluded. It is a great spot for some reflective thinking, and you will be in awe of the picturesque surroundings. The green sea with mountains as the backdrop makes for a postcard perfect setting. 6. Mhaismal

On the eastern limits of Sahyadris is this gorgeous hill station of Mhaismal in Aurangabad which is dripping with natural beauty and has a lot of mythological importance too. The plateau there is formed in such a way that it protrudes on even land on all four sides. The hill station is an eco-tourism spot. There is an ancient Girija Mata temple here and there is also the exact replica of the famous Tirumala Balaji temple here. If you want to catch a bird's eye view of the whole town, you can do that from the TV tower. The Ellora caves and Aurangzeb’s Tomb are near this hilly town. And the drive till here is a beaut!

7. Dumas Beach (Gujarat)

Known for its black sand, Dumas beach is quite known amongst tourists. Not only that, folklore has it that there are a number of paranormal activities that have happened here. Those intrigued by disappearances and haunted stories make their way here. There are many haunted stories associated with this beach and it ain't for the feeble-hearted.
