5 Thanksgiving Traditions From TV Series We’d Love To Live This Year

Gathering with all your loved ones over a table full of delicious home-cooked food, reminiscing all the highs (and lows) of the year and all the special moments the group has lived, that’s what the spirit of Thanksgiving is all about. As much as we love watching our favourite fictional characters enjoy Thanksgiving, we would also like to adopt these favourite traditions from TV shows into our lives. You know you want to do that, so read on.

1: The Wishbone tradition from F.R.I.E.N.D.S

We’ve all done the throw-the-coin-in-the-fountain bit, but what we’d really like to try is the wishbone tradition. Two people wish on the same (turkey or chicken) bone, break it, and whoever gets the bigger piece gets their wish fulfilled. We have Joey to thank for this fantasy!

2: Slapsgiving from How I Met Your Mother

Don’t know about you, but after watching How I Met Your Mother, I started looking for reasons to place slap bets with my friends. Barney’s desperation and fear added with Marshall’s sadist joy totally wants us to celebrate Slapsgiving this year!

3: Food Trail from Gilmore Girls

Four Thanksgiving dinners on one night seems impossible, doesn’t it? Not for Rory and Lorelai from the Gilmore Girls! At the best friend’s, Luke’s diner, grandparent’s, junk food bingeing on their own, who wouldn’t love 4 different Thanksgiving dinners with distinctive offerings at each?! Take our money! Oh wait, these are some things money cannot buy!

4: Movie followed by a feast from This Is Us

As much as the show leaves us in tears (both happy and sad) always, their Thanksgiving tradition is something we’re totally jealous of! Starting from a day where nothing is going their way to ending with a pilgrim hat tradition, screening of Police Academy 3, Thanksgiving cheese dogs and a yarn ball of gratefulness, this is one we’d surely like to be a part of.

5: American Football from F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

whatshot

With a Thanksgiving episode every season, F.R.I.E.N.D.S.has definitely given us some memorable traditions. A game of some American football fighting for the Geller Cup leaving you famished for a traditional Thanksgiving meal followed by a Thanksgiving toast? Yes, we’d like this, too, please!
