Mumbai Emerges As The Most Forgetful City. From Artificial Teeth To Mangoes, Here's What Indians Left In Uber Cabs!

Each year Uber releases its Lost and Found Index, where they point out which cities' passengers leave most stuff behind in cabs and what they leave behind. In the fourth edition of the survey, Mumbai has, for the first time, emerged as the most forgetful city.

Mumbaikars were the most to leave behind their belongings in the car. Next in line was Kolkata, then Prayagraj. Bangalore dropped from third to fifth spot. Wondering what all they left behind? Umm, Phones, cameras, bags, wallets, keys, clothings, etc are the top items. But Indians have also left behind quirky items like mangoes, teddy bears and even a tricycle. But the quirkiest of them all was acrylic artificial teeth.

There have also been items like brooms, tawas, medical prescriptions, and exam notes. Interestingly, Thursdays and Fridays are the days on which the cabbies reported the most number of lost items. And around lunch and post-lunch has been the time they forget the most, read between 1 -3 pm.

That's something! But what should you do if you forget your phone or other item in the cab? Their report reads, "The best way to retrieve a lost item is to call the driver – but if you leave your phone itself in an Uber, you can login to your account on a computer. Here’s what to do:

-Tap “Your Trips” and select the trip where you left something

-Tap “I lost an item”

-Tap “Contact driver about a lost item”

-Scroll down and enter the phone number you would like to be contacted at. Tap submit.

-If you lost your personal phone, enter a friend’s phone number (you can do this by logging into your account on a computer, or using a friend’s phone).

-Your phone will ring and connect you directly with your driver’s mobile number.

-If your driver picks up and confirms that your item has been found, coordinate a mutually convenient time and place to meet for its return to you.

-If your driver doesn’t pick up, leave a detailed voicemail describing your item and the best way to contact you."

Easy, right?

It is always better to check the cab once you exit, but if you forget to do so, either the driver reports it and it is registered in their lost and found index. That's how we know Mumbaikars are becoming forgetful. *winks*
