Mumbai Is Getting 400 AC Buses And Isn't That The BEST News Of The Day?!

Looks like BEST is rolling out their best moves. After the new and cheap fare implementation, BEST's decision-making body has given a go ahead for hire of 400 buses on wet lease.

These buses are supposed to smaller and air-conditioned ones. The first batch of such buses are to arrive this August. They will be about 100-200 mini and midi buses as they will be better to maneuver on the congested Mumbai streets.  By November, as many as 6,000 buses will be inducted taking the fleet size to 10,000 buses. This will help in better commute, increased connectivity and frequency. Since they are being hired on a wet lease module, BEST will provide the conductors and the contractor will take care of the maintenance and driver cost.

There are also 80 e-buses coming our way, out of which 40 are mid-sized. These AC buses will be provided by two contractors, providing 200 buses each. The mini-AC buses will be 21-seaters and will have a single door in the front. They will be hired for seven years. The decision that has been long pending has been revised and this is the proposal, as of now. We hope to see more buses on the roads and with the new fare system, it is likely to attract a lot of commuters.
