Good News Travellers, IRCTC Plans To Set Up A Pod Hotel Near Mumbai Central Terminus!

It was in 2017, that Mumbai got its very first pod hotel aka Urbanpod Hotel that let people stay in pods or capsules which were equipped with modern amenities. It was quite a cool concept and a boon to the millennial travellers. Plus, the whole idea blew people away. And looks like, it did catch the eye of the officials at Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), as they plan to set up a pod hotel near Mumbai Central Terminus.

The small pod hotel will have 30 rooms, aka ultra-modern capsules, in which travellers can stay up to 12 hours. The hotel will have a lounge area, washroom area, cafeteria and changing rooms. Plus, the rates will be much cheaper but will have all the amenities starting from WiFi to personal lockers to charging points.

The plan was proposed to Western Railways and approval on the same is awaited. The latest update is that the hotel will be constructed over an area of 4000 sq. ft. Locations for the same have been scouted for. If the concept gets approved and clicks, IRCTC plans to have more of such pod hotels near prime railway stations for commuter convenience.
