Goa Beach Shacks To Remain Open This Season And We All Are Breathing A Sigh Of Relief!

For all those who were worried that their Goa plans are going to go bust this season, rejoice! The Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court has allowed the Goa Government to go ahead and allot beach shacks for the season. Phew!

The entire country got a simultaneous heart-attack when on September 13 this year, the National Green Tribunal told the Goa Government to put the allotment of beach shacks for the season on hold. This was done as the NGT was still awaiting the Coastal Zone Management plan from the state government. The plan divides coastal areas into commercial, environment and no development zones.

The Bombay High Court however, has found that the shacks don’t cause any harm to the environment as they are temporary structures which are dismantled once the season ends. Phew! Thankfully, after the go-ahead given by the court, we will be seeing shacks set up on the beaches. The Goa Government has also stated that they shall submit the Coastal Management plan by November.
