After Flora Fountain, Gateway of India To Be Beautified!

It was just earlier this year that Mumbai's iconic Flora Fountain was restored to its glory and people can't stop Instagramming or awing at it. And, in the coming future, we are going to do the same for our very own Gateway of India (not that we don't do it already). Maharashtra government plans to beautify and restore the sheen of the iconic monument.

According to a TOI report, Governor Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BMC officials had a meeting last week with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to restore the Gateway and the plaza around it.

The monument will be spruced up by ASI while the plaza will be beautified by BMC. The plan is still in making and the beautification shall start soon.

Built in the 20th Century, this arch-like monument overlooks the Arabian Sea and is truly the gateway into India. It was erected to commemorate King George V and Queen Mary's visit to Mumbai. While the foundation stone was laid in 1913, the construction was finished in 1924.
