No-Entry Zones Enforced: You Might Not Be Allowed To Visit The Iconic Durga Puja Pandals Anymore

After the HC order, Kolkata Police has finally created no-entry zone mark around many Durga Puja hotspots in the city and restricted the entry of visitors.

The official order for a visitor-free Durga Puja seems to have taken place now as Kolkata Police are finally cummerbund and enforcing 'No-Go Zones' throughout the city. Through a WhatsApp Group, the police have reached out toe ht most iconic Durga Puja pandals of Kolkata and by yesterday evening, no-entry boards were placed throughout the city.

Most of the major pandals had to comply and shut their doors on Panchami evening which otherwise would have been brimming with visitors. In South Kolkata, a 10 meters barricade was set up around Singhi Park Durga Puja and the important Dover Lane was completely sealed off. However, Singhi Park organizers have distributed car passes to visitors so if you get one, you can enjoy a drive-by darshan.

The entire Joka-bound flank was sealed off to restrict people at SB Park Puja in Thakurpukur. Mudiali, Ballygunge Central and Tarachand Lane Durga Pujas have set up big-screens some distance away from their pandals and therefore, the roads remained empty and non-crowded. Ahiritola Sarbojonin and Deshapriya Park shut the main park doors to avoid crowding at any rate.

For Chetla Agrani and Suruchi Sangha including 60 pandals, a separate U-turn system would be created from the entry point. At some places, a simple 5 meters barricade has been set up so as to facilitate anyone who has a drive-by pass. However, this system has created a traffic ruckus in Kolkata and we can only hope that by Navami, a more systematic system comes to light.
