Kolkata, Mumbai & Jaipur Among The Top 30 Cities Predicted To Face Severe Water Crisis By 2050

In the latest study, it has been found that Kolkata, Mumbai and Jaipur are among the top 30 biggest cities who are prone to facing extreme water crisis by the year 2050.

Countless efforts have dawned since we became conscious about the environment but it seems to be in vain. While we focus on one aspect, another one seems to be affected by it. The water crisis has already risen in many parts of India and as per a recent study, a list of top 30 cities in India have been cited who are prone to acute shortage in future. Among them, Kolkata, Mumbai and Jaipur are prone to the most extremities.

World Wide Fund conducted an extensive study in India in view of the environmental degradation and availability of water resources. They listed 30 cities in the country who are prone to facing dramatic water shortage by the year of 2050 which includes, Kolkata, Mumbai, Jaipur among the worst hit along with Amritsar, Pune, Indore, Srinagar, Bengaluru, Vishakhapattanam and Kozikhode following them.

Almost 350 million people won't even afford an ounce of water by the year 2050 if the present rate of degradation continues till the near future. Of course, water shortage problem has plummeted drastically and a lot of government and non-government institutes are working to cope with it. However, the rampant misuse of the resource by industries and the general population alike seem to pull every effort back.
