Here Is A Sweet Recipe For The Winters, Kolkata's Favourite Dessert The Rum Ball

Many chefs and restaurants have confirmed how the rum balls have recently emerged as one of the most sought-after sweet dishes in the city. While many folks are considering checking out at restaurants, there are others who are trying to prepare it at home.

If there is anything on the Flurys menu that has become a legacy, it's the rum balls. The sweet dish has become a staple for breakfast and for the winter evening bites at this iconic restaurant in Park Street. For the folks who might be looking forward to making it at home, here's how you can prepare the Flurys version of rum balls without hassle.

Ingredients: 

1. Chocolate Sponge: 1 kg

2. Mix fruit jam: 100 gm

3. Vanilla essence: 5 ml

4. Raisins: 50 gm

5. Tutti-frutti: 50 gm

6. Rum: 30 ml

7. Chocolate ganache: 150 gm

8. Chocolate buttercream: 100 gm

As shared by Chef Vikar Kumar who happens to be the executive chef at Flurys, here is how you can prepare this nostalgic chocolate fondant at your home. 

- Start by breaking the chocolate sponge into small pieces. 

- Now, put all the ingredients together inside a bowl leaving aside the chocolate ganache which will be put to use later. Now, properly mix all the ingredients inside the bowl. 

- Once done, make proper balls with the mix but make sure you weigh each ball properly. The size of all should be more or less similar. In other words, try to put equal ingredients in every division. 

- Keep the balls aside. Now to prepare the chocolate ganache, heat equal parts of fresh cream and melted chocolate and pour it gently over the balls. 

- Dip the balls with the ganache properly and scoop it off.
