Go Filmy At This Bollywood-Themed Joint In Camac Street

Unleash your filmy side with this quirky, Bolly-themed cafe in Camac Street!

Every 90's kid will remember staying glued to the TV screen and marvelling at the stunts shown in the epic Sholay film. Though we found all the characters to be pretty entertaining (even Dhanno!), Gabbar Singh and his legendary dialogues undoubtedly stood apart from the rest. Truth be told, 'So Jaa Nahi Toh Gabbar Singh Aa Jayega' still makes a shiver run down our spine as we loathe one of the greatest villains in the history of Indian cinema. So, we were genuinely excited to stumble upon this Bolly-themed restaurant tucked away in Ho Chi Minh Sarani as any Gabbar fan would!

Winning hands down for creativity and a chilled-out ambience, Gabbar's Bar and Kitchen is where you can relax and let good food be a stress-buster, after a hectic work schedule. This joint has been much appreciated for its consistent performance in experimenting with molecular gastronomy and the out-of-the-box presentation. You can take your pick from an incredible variety of dishes belonging to North Indian, Mexican, Chinese and Italian cuisines. The filmy names of the dishes are fun to read through as you order your favourite items with a fun twist! If you share an eternal love for kebabs, then we recommend that you try out the Mogambo Khush Hua, which is a fantastic kebab platter based on mutton, chicken and fish. Apart from this, other bestselling starters include the Balam Puchkari (street-style golgappas), Tu Cheese Badi Hai Mast Mast (cheese balls served with a mayo dip), Bachhan Saab's Kebab PlatterGabbar's GaloutiMolecular Papdi Chaat (crunchy papdis garnished with yoghurt spheres) and Inverted Vada Pao.

Coming to the mains, we were wowed by the Gabbar Ki Maa Ki Dal, Chana Masala (the chana is Dhanno's favourite, we believe), Munni Ke Badnaam Kofte, Makkhan Singh's Butter Chicken, and Chicken Babumoshai (a traditional, Bengali preparation). Ending your meal on a sweet one, the desserts like Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan (aamchi Mumbai-style kulfi), Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi (sinful chocolate mudpie), Yeh Dil Maange More (min-flavoured mousse wrapped in chocolate truffle), Jalebi Bai (crispy jalebis soaked in a saffron syrup), Jungle Mein Mangal (a deconstructed Black Forest slice) and Dhoom Macha Le (a gooey chocolate ball filled with fresh strawberries and nougat). Our favourite has to be the visually stunning dessert called Golmaal, which is a chocolate sphere filled with mousse and drenched in chocolate syrup and really it couldn't get more awesome!
