The National Museum in Delhi is one of the largest and oldest museums in India. It was established in 1949 and its incredible collection boasts of a wide range of rare exhibits dating back to the prehistoric era along with those from the modern times. The museum has over 200,000 works of art, antique arms and armour, ancient coin collections and delicate miniature paintings from the period 1000 to 1900 AD. In 1989, the museum got integrated into the National Institute of History of Arts, Conservation, and Museology which made it an alluring place for researchers and academia, thanks to the addition of a library and academic courses on the same subjects. The museum also conducts workshops and talks on various subjects during the course of the week.
