This is exactly the case with Amrita Chatpal, who partnered with her 90-year old dadi to start her own brand of secret masalas called 'Ammiji's.'
Ammiji's is run by Amrita from Punjabi Bagh in Delhi, but the heart of the brand, and whom it is named after, her grandmother Rajinder Kaur Chata, lies in Amritsar. It was Ammiji, who crafted her own chai masala after many trips to the spice bazaar in Amritsar, and passed on the secret blend to her daughter and granddaughter.
After being to married in 1948, it was her experiments in the kitchen that spared her from boredom and loneliness in her new family, and more than 60 years later, it was these experiments that made her a kitchen connoisseur with her own masala brand.
Ammiji's Chai Masala was the first product that Amrita and her grandma launched into the market in 2018. Two years later, the duo sells over 40 products, with daily orders from across India.
