This iconic book bazaar in Daryaganj has come to a close, and the book lovers, authors are not having it at all and have started a campaign for the bazaar with the hashtag #savebookbazardaryaganj.

If you're a bookworm, a student or were one at some point in time, living in the Capital, there's no way you would not know about the iconic Sunday book lane in Daryaganj. Running for the past 55-years, this Kitaab Bazaar has finally come to a closure, as the High Court in Delhi has ordered and not permitting any bazaars on the Netaji Subhash Marg any longer.

Known for cheap books and good reads at a steal price, this bazaar was a saviour for broke students, intellectuals and people who just simply love reading old and new books. The news definitely comes as a surprise as last Sunday many people who went to the market came back empty-handed.

Not just a bazaar, but also such an emotional connect for all the Delhiites, passionate about books. The market operated from 6 AM to 6 PM, every Sunday, with more than 200 booksellers at the market, each one of them had a diverse collection of books from various categories and all across the globe.

Even though, the market has been shut down a few times before but was reopened thanks to the efforts of ardent book lovers and writers. They are still trying for the same, and the book vendors have now started a campaign for the bazaar, that has acquired signatures from customers, and their twitter hashtag is #savebookbazardaryaganj.
