Really Want A Pre-Wedding Shoot? You Can Now Do It At The Waste To Wonder Park!

A recent decision taken by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) is bound to make the youth and the corporates of the city pretty happy. During the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of restrictions had been put on various activities, and it also involved the shutting down of most public places for a couple of months. Large public gatherings were banned to curb the spread of the coronavirus infection, which meant that weddings and other celebrations had to be postponed or cancelled, leading to much disappointment.

Well, it seems like things are slowly changing, with the gradual lifting of bans and restrictions, part of the Unlock plan. Now, the SDMC has allowed the hosting of pre-wedding shoots, brand promotions and birthday parties at the famous Waste to Wonder park, known for its imitation models of the world's Seven Wonders- Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Taj Mahal, Pyramids of Giza, Statue of Liberty, Christ the Redeemer and Colosseum- each created with waste.

The park in Rajiv Gandhi Smriti Van (Sarai Kale Khan) covers approximately seven acres of land and was inaugurated in February last year. It has welcomed almost 1.55 million visitors so far, resulting in nearly Rs 8 crore of earnings for the SDMC. On regular days, you need to pay Rs 50 for a ticket, whereas the price doubles on Sunday, implying Rs 100 per ticket.

According to an SDMC senior official, the corporation will be able to earn more revenues with bookings from for social events such as pre-wedding shoots. There is still some dilemma as to how the bookings for the events will be done, whether online or offline. The rates however for the various events have been fixed as follows:

Pre-wedding shoot: Rs 26,000
Duration: 4 hours

Birthday party: Rs 16,000
Duration: 4 hours

Corporate party/brand promotions: Rs 33,000
Duration: 6 hours

SDMC's horticulture department will grant permissions for all the events, once the park reopens.
