Dust Storm Expected To Hit Delhi Tonight, No Rain Until Next Week

As if the sweltering heat wasn’t agonizing enough.

Whats Hot Delhi

Delhiites are brazing in incessant heat these days. Temperature in the city is peaking at an all-time high with the mercury crossing 43 degree Celsius in some parts of the city. But, like every dark night is followed by a light morning, every blistering week is also followed by a cool weekend. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Delhiites might get some respite from the relentless heat soon, as the city may witness a thunderstorm on Friday. The thunderstorm will be accompanied by overcast conditions and possibly some rain on Tuesday.

Delhi Weather

IMD has reasoned that the sudden change in the city's weather conditions is caused by an active disturbance in the western part of the country. The disturbance would also lead to an increase in moisture and thunderstorm activity in the city sky. Meanwhile, in a separate report, the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) has announced that Delhi’s air quality is expected to worsen from ‘very poor’ to ‘severe’ as soon as tonight and will continue to remain so until May 10.

Rain In Delhi

SAFAR has reported that the entire north-west India, including Rajasthan and Haryana, are going to be in the grip of a dust storm from tonight due to dissemination of widespread dust from dry arid Rajasthan. The air quality, however, is expected to improve Friday onwards as thunderstorm takes effect on the country’s north-west region.
