Experience Three Days Of Cultural Bonanza At The Mehrauli Monsoon Festival!

Musical performances, heritage walks, and storytelling sessions - these are only some of the exciting activities on offer for Delhiites at the first edition of the Mehrauli Monsoon Festival beginning from August 30. The three-day festival has been conceptualised by the Delhi Tourism Department in order to celebrate the cultural legacy of Mehrauli - an area which was a popular monsoon destination during the Mughal era. It will be held at the iconic Jahaz Mahal and feature a host of renowned local artistes including Bollywood singer Javed Ali, Sufi legend Qutbi Brothers, and famous Kathak dancer Rani Khanam amongst others.

The three-day cultural bonanza will kick-start with folk music performances by local artistes from Rajasthan, followed by folk dances from Uttar Pradesh and Hindustani Classical music performances by Kashish Mittal and Shashwati Mandal. The day will also include performancesby famous Sufi and Ghazal singers, Indira Nayak and Sanket Nayak. The final day of the festival will be peppered with some Haryanvi arts.

During the course of the performances, the organisers will also host heritage and ecological walks around the several heritage monuments in the area along with an exhibition from Delhi archives, and a food festival at Aam Bagh. The government has made free shuttle service available from Chattarpur Metro Station to the venue and back to facilitate last-mile connectivity for the festival.
