We know you’re excited about all those couple’s activities planned for the upcoming Valentine’s Day, but the event may not go exactly as you envisioned. We say this because it is predicted that the heavy storms that swept the city in a blanket of snow last week may return for a second innings. According to reports from the MET department in Delhi, the city’s temperature is expected to plummet once again due to mild rain showers and hailstorms.

Last week, north India had witnessed a steep fall in temperature as rain and hailstorms raged through Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The unexpected change in weather was caused due to the confluence of winds coming from opposite directions (Arabian Sea and Bay Of Bengal) and jet stream winds in the upper levels, which led to strong cloud formation. The intensity and expanse of the spell is expected to lessen this week, but parts of Delhi-NCR may witness hailstorms.

The Met Department also said that Delhi's temperature will register a rise to around 13 degree Celsius as the rain approaches. The city’s air quality will also deteriorate with the rising temperature before it is improved by rain showers during or before the weekend. The fluctuation in weather conditions is expected to affect normal life in Delhi and keep city residents indoors for the most part of the day. So, if you have anything planned for Valentine’s Day, we suggest you shift it indoors or be well-equipped with windcheaters and umbrellas if stepping out.
