Having enjoyed a hearty breakfast in the luxurious dining tent, we set off to see the sights, starting at The Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School. This establishment provides free education to all girls within a 20km radius and operates solely on donations. In fact, Sabyasachi has designed te school uniforms for free!

Next, we headed off to pay a visit to the only family in India keeping the dyng art of playing the swarmandal alive. This unique 36-string instrument allows you to create unique melodies, and only a handful of people know how to tune and play it!

Our next stop was Tanji ki Talai, a picturesque lake whose water is not meant for human consumption, but solely for the local flora and fauna. We enjoyed a picnic on the shore of the lake before having a delicious home-cooked meal in the house of a local resident that was every bit as hearty and wholesome as it was nourishing.

Another real highlight of the visit was dune bashing, an adrenalin-fueled ride on the majestic sand dunes in an open-top 4x4 vehicle that really sets the pulses racing. A camel safari on the dunes followed, ending with a high tea on the desert as the sun set.

Returning to the resort, we enjoyed cultural performances put on by local artists, including music and dances, which relly set the tone for the evening. We also enjoyed a delicious meal and were lucky enough to speak to the ownerof Kanak Jaisalmer and understand hs aim behind establishing the resort in the middle of the desert.
