Europe Like Feels In South Delhi As SDMC Allows More Open-Air Restaurants In The City

SDMC thinks that this would be a better idea for restaurants as open spaces with good air circulation are safer dining options rather than closed spaces especially in the times of coronavirus.

Many European countries have mostly open-air dining restaurants and even though we have our fair share of open spaces for dining but it's definitely not as many as Europe. But, now the National Capital is going to be following the same trend as South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has been planing to allow these open-air dine-in places in areas that would fall under its jurisdiction.

They’ve come out with a draft plan to see if they can offer open space for such restaurants for people to come and eat and even enjoy light music as that will also be allowed.

Due to COVID-19, only a few numbers of customers are able to come in due to social distancing and other restrictions, and they’ve been experiencing a lot of loss after their business resumed after the lockdown. This new policy will help a lot of business as there are 2,000 dining establishments in South Delhi that will benefit from this policy.

The idea was still in the pipeline before the pandemic struck but now the SDMC thinks that this would be a better idea for restaurants as open spaces with good air circulation are safer dining options rather than closed spaces especially in the times of coronavirus. The risk of infection is lower but they will also allow more seating space which is good for these businesses as it helps them generate new revenues.

But the only drawback is that no live band performances or loud music will be allowed in these outdoor spaces, only mellow jazz-like music. And unlike these European countries, here the pavement space outside the restaurant will not be permitted to be used to seat customers to prevent any sort of hazardous situation. Although the ones who already have licenses for indoor restaurants will be given these licenses as of now. No new ones would be issued until the committee announces next.

We definitely can’t wait to dine-in (we mean, out) like the Europeans.
