Delhi Peeps, You Will Soon Be Able To Pay Your Traffic Challans Online

Currently, anyone who violates traffic rules needs to make a trip to the Todapur area in west Delhi for paying the challan amount.

Those violating traffic rules in Delhi will soon have the option to pay their challans online through an e-payment facility to be launched by the traffic police. This facility will be in place by end of June, and will make the payment of challans a lot easier for Dilliwalas. Currently, traffic violators need to make a trip to the Todapur area in west Delhi for paying fines; and these fines could be as less as Rs 100.

According to K Jegadesan, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), automated machines generate a pool of challans on a daily basis, and therefore an e-payment service could help make the processing quicker and easier. With the introduction of the facility, you will be able to make online payments for any traffic violation, and save yourself a trip to Todapur, informed Jegadesan. He added that if you still don't make the payment, then it would be difficult to make an escape since there would be an online record of the violation.

To pay the challan, a violator simply needs to simply visit the official website of the Delhi Traffic Police i.e. www.delhitrafficpolice.nic.in and pay the fine, whether it is for over-speeding or red light violation. Jegadesan informs that the e-challans machines generate nearly 20,000 challans per day; these are also referred to as 'contact challans.'

Well, as long as people aren't encouraged to drive more recklessly (since challans are payable online), we're pretty happy to have this convenience in our lives.
