There may be a rising amount of tiffin services in town but as they say, old is gold. With more than 7 years of experience and thousands of happy customers, Santosh Caterers has been one of the most popular dabbawalas on the circuit. Run by brothers Santosh and Prem Kumar who are from Delhi, the Guindy-based dealers have delivery zones in areas as far as OMR to T Nagar and even Egmore, with Saidapet being the most popular customer zone for them. They serve excellent Chicken Curries on Wednesday and Saturdays apart from different types of Dal, Gobi and Aloo Sabjis along with Phulkas and sometimes Parathas as well. To start the tiffin service, they charge Rs 1,000 as a security amount, which is refundable once you discontinue their services.

ATITHI KHANA, ADYAR
Recently launched, Atithi Khana - based out of Adyar - is owned and operated by young entrepreneur Aasish Nahar. They serve pure vegetarian food that is more Marwari in nature. Serving both lunch and dinner, Aasish makes it a point to change the recipes every day in order to keep it fresh. Their lunch meal comprises 4 Rotis, different types of Dal and Sabzi such as Rajma Dal, Kaali Dal, Palak Dal every day. You can choose to pay either on a weekly or monthly basis. With more than 35 clients on an average every day, their current delivery zones are Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, Tidel Park, Alwarpet, R.A Puram, Nandanam. DABBAWALA, VIRUGAMBAKKAM
P.Mahendar from Rajasthan started Dabbawala rather recently and they deliver pure vegetarian food all over Chennai. Situated at Virugambakkam, Dabbawala begins their service at 8 a.m every day and wraps up by 9 p.m after having catered to over 200 happy customers. For lunch and dinner, they serve home-made rice, 5 Phulkas, 12 different types of Sabjis, as well as salads. For lunch, make sure to order before 11 a.m and for dinner order by 6 pm. It takes an hour for them to deliver the hot freshly prepared food to your doorstep – but hey, it’s all free! They deliver to the areas between Vadapalani and Valasaravakkam. They can deliver the tiffin meals at other areas too for a minimum order of 10 people.
