1. Krishna Chaat

A small chaat shop in the heart of the city, which has been known to serve the best one in the tri-city area. You'll always find this little corner crowded, but it’s all worth it. Do make it a point to dig into their Tikki Chaat, Papdi Chaat and Dahi Bhalle. With different kinds of chutneys, some really great flavours come together and leaves you with a refreshing taste.

2. Highway Sweets

There is more than one reason for you to drop by this place. Firstly, you can easily spot it. Yes, the moment you enter the Sector 32 market, it is right there. Secondly, you can pick any dish from the menu, a dessert, a snack or a drink; and it will be absolutely snackable. We suggest, you try their Samosa Chaat, Gol Gappe, and their Lassi. The taste is unique, and a go-to place for all those who want to eat under a budget.

3. Classic - 44

Started as just a bakery, this place, now, has over 8 outlets in the city. Over the years, not only have they branched out, but have also expanded the menu and included a variety of street foods. Do try the Paneer Spiral, Mushroom Spiral and Rum Ball. Not many stores offer value for money, but this one surely is!

4. Eating House

If waiting for long in a queue wouldn't stop you from getting your favourite food, then The Eating House should be on your list. It also makes for the perfect pit-stop after an exhausting shopping spree at Sector 22. The perfect mix of spices and dishes topped with butter, makes all the tiredness go away with the first bite. If you happen to visit this market, don’t forget to try their Bhel Puri, Pau Bhaji and Gol Gappe.

5. Brothers Amritsari Kulcha Hub

When in Chandigarh, one has to tick-off the traditional Punjabi breakfast off the check-list. The butter-y, spicy, perfectly roasted kulchas of the Amritsari Kulcha Hub, is what you need to start your day with. Offering a wide variety, while it might be difficult for you take your pick, we suggest, you try the Chur Chur Kulcha, and Aaloo Kulcha. As the makhan trickles down, it will make you crave for more.

6. Garg Chaat

A small shop located in the Sector 23 complex, it is quiet through the day, but come evening, it is really difficult to find a spot to stand as well. You can either opt for a take-away, or dig in there itself. Their Tikki, served with Pudina and Imly Chutney makes both, sweet and spicy taste buds, happy. Also, locals claim that their taste and authenticity hasn’t changed a bit since last 15 years.

7.  Raju Chinese Fast Food

Sector 15 is one of the most popular hubs for college students; and this little shop inside the Chinese Market is one of the most favourite ones. Raju Chinese Corner comes to the rescue of all those who crave of delicious (and affordable) Chinese food. If you are heading to this joint for the first time, try the Chowmein, Honey Chilli Cauliflower, Chicken Momos and Chilli Chicken. Even though popular, this place has not been discovered by many, so yo can thank us later.

8. Uttam’s Bakery & Restaurant

Just when you thought that only street food can be included in a budget-based story, well... we are just going to prove you wrong. Uttam Bakery, has four outlets in the city, but we suggest you go to the one in Sector 46. They offer a wide range of options, starting from all-day English breakfasts, to subs and what not! While most of the items on the menu are under Rs 100,the most exorbitant dish will not cost you more than Rs 150.

9. Muskan Juice Bar

From delicious juices or lip-smacking shakes, Muskan Juice Bar has it all. They have something in store for each kind of taste-bud. Opt for the vanilla shake, or butterscotch, or even chocolate and have it with a dollop of ice cream to make sure it satiates your thirst. If you do not want try the shakes, you can go in for the wide range of juices offered as well.

10.  Stu- C, Panjab University

No list is complete without the mention of Stu-C. This is THE place in the city for cheap and delicious wholesome meals. Student Centre is the heart and soul of Punjab University and its students. They come to the rescue of many hungry souls with delicious Rajma Chawal, Kadhi Chawal, Cold Coffee, Burgers and everyting else that comes to your mind, when you think of comfort food.
