Karnataka Has Been Hiding This Star Shaped Fort And It's Only 4 Hours Away From Ooru!

Sakleshpur is no new destination to Bangalore bag packers and travel addicts. In fact, come the long weekend, you’ll find Bangaloreans escape to home stays and forest retreats that the destination has to offer. While they visit the usuals like Abbey Falls or visit the nature reserve, we have something new in mind – Manjarabad Fort.

Apart from offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Western Ghats and the Western Coastline (yes, you actually can see the coast from the top of the fort), the fort itself is an architectural beauty. Built in the shape of an eight-pointed star, it is best visited after the first Monsoon showers.

Green moss and grass covers the entire fort, while the top is engulfed in mist which is how it gets its name. ‘Manju’ literally translates to mist in Kannada and the name Manjarabad was the name given to the fort by Tipu Sultan, who had the fort built in 1792.

There is also a well right in the middle of the fort which collects rainwater and used to be the only source of water for the inmates at the altitude of 3241 ft. Since the destination is offbeat, we think it’s perfect to score some Insta-worthy clicks and portraits, better if you have a drone because the view of the fort from the top is breathtaking.
