Karnataka Govt. May Impose A 5-Year Ban On Apartment Construction To Fight Water Crisis

Owing to the ongoing water crisis finally gaining attention, the Karnataka Government is considering a five-year ban on construction of apartments in Bangalore.

With Chennai’s water crisis and the possible shortage of drinking water in Bangalore, the gravity of the situation seems to have hit the authorities. In a move to alleviate the issue, the Karnataka Government is considering the need to implement a five-year ban on the construction of apartments in the city.

Announced by Deputy Chief Minister, G Parameshwara, apartment buildings often don’t have proper drinking water supply and end up using water tankers, adding to the water shortage problem. While the government officials are yet to discuss with builders and developers, a measure like this will help tackle the water crisis better, we think. Meanwhile, new projects and other options are also being taken into consideration, as per reports.
