Catch A Breathtaking Sunrise At These Spots In Bangalore

As the guitarist Carlos Santana once said, "There's never one sunrise or one sunset that's the same." There are very few things in life that are as fulfilling (and free, might we add!) as catching the sunrise. Here are a few places in and around Bangalore that you can visit to watch the sun rise in all its glory.

Hebbal Lake

Hebbal lake was constructed by Kempe Gowda in 1537 (part of a total of three lakes created). The lake is also the home of water birds such as the Grey Herons, Spot-Billed Pelicans, Pintail and Garagney. Located in Northern Bangalore, next to the busy Hebbal flyover, this large lake simply cannot be missed. Thanks to the BBMP, an artificial island was added in the middle to enhance the scenic beauty. Quiet and serene, this place is sure to give you mann-ki-shanti!

Kaikondrahalli Lake

Looking at it today, it is hard to believe that this lake was once a literal dump-yard. Through the consistent efforts of the locals it was rejuvenated and now attracts hundreds of people every day. Located near the Sarjapur Main Road, Kaikondrahalli Lake offers a beautiful view of the rising sun. The lake is also the temporary home of numerous migratory birds. It is also a valuable resource for fishery, cattle-herding and biodiversity. It is maintained solely on donations by volunteers so next time you're there maybe you can lend a helping hand!

Let us start out by saying this: Narayangiri Hills doesn't get the love it deserves. Scenic view, under-explored caves, ponds and a calmness rarely found in today's world, Narayangiri Hills has it all. You must definitely undertake the trek which includes staying the night in a tent under the beautiful starry night sky (when was the last time you even saw a handful of stars in the city!) Like any good trek, it includes a lot of walking, hill climbing, and camping out at night but let us tell you the morning view is totes worth it!

Maybe you want to clear your head after a long day at work or you want to spend some quiet-time with a loved one, this place offers the perfect refuge from the mad rush of the city. The place has gorgeous, well-maintained gardens, yoga, badminton, and gym facilities too! We have the Sankey Walkers Association to thank for it. There's absolutely no reason for you to skip out on a visit to this place.

No list of sunrise spots is complete without Nandi Hills, so here we are! This place needs no introduction at all. The place consistently manages to pull large crowds of all ages and walks of life but it is by no means overrated. The hill fortress here was the summer retreat of the famed Tipu Sultan. Misty hills, beautiful greenery and a splendid view (the sunrise being the sweet, sweet cherry on top!) no wonder this place is on everybody's list of must-visit places. Be sure to keep warm!
