Even as Chennai’s shocking water crisis grabs attention and headlines, spurring people into action, reports say Bangalore might end up facing a similar situation if the situation doesn’t change. Although monsoon season has begun, the city hasn’t been getting enough rainfall, particularly in the catchment areas of KRS reservoirs. This means the reservoirs are running out and will go dry very soon!

If there’s no improvement in the reservoir water level, BWSSB (Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board) will have to start rationing Bangalore’s water supply from next month. While no official decision has been taken yet, Deputy Chief Minister, G Parameshwara, has reportedly expressed concern over the issue of continuing to meet the city’s water demand.  Meanwhile, the authorities are seriously discussing measures like banning apartment construction for five years, rainwater harvesting and other steps to handle the impending water crisis
