With sustainable living and eco-friendly practices becoming all the more important these days, even the folks at Kempegwowda International Airport are going the extra mile to do their bit. How, you ask? Well, in an attempt to follow the idea of recycling and reusing, the authorities have requested to use plastic waste to build a road! Yes, you read that right.

KIA has requested BBMP for 50 tonnes of plastic for the road construction. The civic body could possibly contribute to this by giving some of the plastic seized from across the city (3921 kg since January 2019, to be precise). The proposal also mentions setting up stalls or collection centres to gather plastic waste. While reports say the airport officials aren’t ready to reveal details yet, BBMP said they’re open to considering it. Before you think it’s the first time plastic is being reused to build a road, no; turns out Cunningham Road, MG Road and Mysore Road already have a good dose of plastic as a binding agent. Well, we’re definitely proud of KIA for this step and hope it’s implemented soon!
